• Kaali Venkat was a theatre actor with zero film experience when Aadukalam Naren personally recommended him for a role in Eetti (2015). Naren had seen him perform in a Chennai stage play and told the director, 'This guy has the face of a real-life villain.' That one recommendation launched Venkat's film career.
• In Aruvam (2019), Naren and Venkat played father and son. Naren insisted they rehearse every scene together at his home for two weeks before shooting. Venkat later said Naren would deliberately flub his lines to make him react naturally — a trick he learned from watching veteran stage actors.
• On the sets of Kadha Solla Porom (2016), Naren and Venkat shared a room for the entire 40-day shoot. They would stay up past midnight discussing old Tamil films, and Venkat once admitted Naren taught him how to read a call sheet properly — something no one else had bothered to explain.
