• Ravi Mariya was still a newcomer when Aadukalam Naren, already a respected character actor, agreed to share screen space with him in Manam Kothi Paravai (2012). Naren later said he signed on because he saw Ravi's raw energy in the audition — and wanted to help him settle into the industry.
• In Velainu Vandhutta Vellaikaaran (2016), Naren played the strict father while Ravi played the rebellious son. The tension worked because Naren deliberately underplayed his anger — he told Ravi to go big with his reactions, so the comedy came from the mismatch in their volumes.
