• Director A. C. Tirulokchandar cast Jayachitra opposite Muthuraman in 'School Master' (1973) because he wanted a fresh pairing — she was just 16, and he was 40. The age gap was a deliberate choice to sell the story's father-daughter-like tension.
• Muthuraman was known for his controlled, understated acting, but Jayachitra pushed him to loosen up. On the set of 'Engal Kula Dheivam' (1974), she kept cracking jokes between takes, and he started improvising comic reactions — something he rarely did with other co-stars.
• Jayachitra later said Muthuraman treated her like a younger sister on every shoot. He personally drove her home after late-night schedules for 'Asai 60 Naal' (1976) because she was a minor and he didn't trust the unit's drivers.
• Their fourth film 'Alukoru Aasai' (1977) was the first Tamil movie to feature a double-role for Jayachitra — she played twin sisters. That performance directly inspired K. Balachander to cast her in his next film 'Ninaithale Inikkum' (1979), which became her biggest hit.
• Jayachitra once told a magazine: 'Muthuraman sir never once made me feel like a child actor. He'd rehearse with me for hours before a scene, even if I was the one with more lines.'
