• Swapna was a rising star in Malayalam when Vijayakanth personally requested her for Jadhikkoru Needi (1981). He had seen her work and told the director she was the only one who could play the role. That film became their first together.
• In Nenjile Thunivirunthal (1981), Vijayakanth deliberately slowed down his usual intense delivery to match Swapna's more natural, understated style. She, in turn, pushed him to hold longer pauses in emotional scenes — a rhythm neither had with other co-stars.
• During the shoot of Idhu Enga Boomi (1984), Vijayakanth would bring Swapna filter coffee from a specific shop in Madras every morning. She later said it was the only time a co-star remembered her coffee order across three films.
