• Vijayakanth was a struggling extra when Sujatha recommended him for a role in Neer Nilam Neruppu (1980). She had seen him on set and told the director he had 'screen presence.' That film became his first lead role.
• In Vellai Pura Ondru (1984), Sujatha deliberately slowed down her dialogue delivery to match Vijayakanth's raw, hesitant style. She later said she 'acted at his rhythm' so the audience wouldn't notice the gap in experience.
• During the shoot of Veettuku Oru Kannagi (1984), Vijayakanth would bring Sujatha homemade coffee from a specific shop every morning. She called it their 'set ritual' and it continued through all five films.
• Kudumbam (1984) was the first Tamil film to cast them as a married couple with children. That family-drama template was later copied by at least three other director pairs in the late 80s.
• Sujatha once told a magazine: 'Vijayakanth never rehearsed. He would just stand there and feel the scene. I had to be ready to catch whatever he threw.' She said this in a 1985 interview about working with him.
• In Dharmam Vellum (1989), their last film together, Sujatha improvised a crying scene that made Vijayakanth break character and laugh. The director kept the take because he said it showed 'real love' between them.
