• Director K. Balachander cast Saritha and Rajesh together for the first time in 'Thanneer Thanneer' (1981) because he wanted actors who could handle long, naturalistic dialogues without melodrama. He specifically paired them after seeing how both could underplay emotion — a rare combo in Tamil cinema then.
• In 'Achamillai Achamillai' (1984), Rajesh played a timid husband and Saritha a domineering wife. The comedy came from their rhythm — Rajesh would deliberately pause mid-sentence, and Saritha would cut him off with a sharp retort. They rehearsed that timing for weeks, and the film became a cult classic for its marital banter.
