Narasimhan is a Tamil film music composer and violinist, born in 1943 in Mysore, known for his Carnatic and Western classical music training under his father, the renowned violinist Gottuvadyam Srinivasa Iyengar. He debuted as a composer with Achamillai Achamillai (1984), directed by K. Balachander — a film that won the National Film Award for Best Feature Film in Tamil and three Filmfare Awards South, with songs like 'Aavaram Poovu' achieving wide popularity. A versatile musician who worked as a violinist for leading Tamil composers before turning to composition, he also contributed to Ilaiyaraaja's experimental album How to Name It? and composed for films including Yaar (1985), Aayiram Pookkal Malarattum (1986), and Paasamalargal (1994).
