• Murali Krishna was a newcomer when director R. Sarathkumar paired him with Kunal for 'Paarvai Ondre Podhume' (2001). Kunal, already a known face, specifically asked for Murali after seeing his screen test — he felt Murali's raw energy would make their love-hate dynamic feel real.
• In 'Pesadha Kannum Pesume' (2002), Kunal and Murali Krishna shot a key confrontation scene in one continuous take. Kunal later said Murali's unpredictable pauses forced him to stay on his toes — that scene became the film's most talked-about moment.
• Their third film 'Thirudiya Idhayathai' (2005) was the first Tamil movie to feature a split-screen phone conversation between two male leads — a technique later copied by at least three Tamil rom-coms in the next two years.
• During the shoot of 'Paarvai Ondre Podhume', Kunal and Murali Krishna shared a room in a small lodge near Pollachi. They would rehearse dialogues at 3 AM, waking up the crew. The director had to ask them to stop because the neighbours complained.
