Biography

Monal Naval (born 26 January 1981, Delhi) was an Indian actress who worked in Tamil, Telugu, and Kannada cinema between 2000 and 2002, and is the younger sister of actress Simran. She is best known for playing Mamathi, the secondary romantic lead opposite Vijay in the Tamil sports drama Badri (2001), and Thilothama opposite Prabhu Deva in the Tamil comedy Charlie Chaplin (2002). Her debut was in the 2000 Kannada film Indradhanush, and she went on to appear in Telugu films such as Lovely (2001) and Istam (2001) before her untimely death. Monal died by suicide on 14 April 2002 in Chennai at the age of 21, leaving behind several unreleased projects.
