• Shafi Inamdar was a popular TV host before he turned to films. Nana Patekar, already a stage veteran, personally recommended Inamdar to director Ravi Tandon for Aaj Ki Awaz (1984), insisting his TV energy would translate perfectly to the screen.
• In Hum Dono (1995), Nana played a blind man and Shafi played his caretaker. Nana told Shafi to never look at him during their scenes together — he wanted Shafi's reactions to be purely vocal, forcing a raw, audio-driven performance that made their bond feel real.
