• Jyothika was the one who suggested Malavika for the role of the deaf-mute girl in Perazhagan (2004). The director K. S. Ravikumar had not yet cast that part, and Jyothika pushed for her after seeing Malavika in a small role elsewhere.
• In Chandramukhi (2005), Jyothika played the possessed woman while Malavika played the ghost who haunts her. They never shared a single scene face-to-face — their entire conflict was built through reaction shots and body language in separate frames.
• During the shoot of Manikanda (2007), Malavika was going through a tough breakup. Jyothika would sit with her in her vanity van between shots, just listening, no advice. Malavika later said that was the only thing that got her through those days.
