• Ravichandran was a rising star when he agreed to do Naam Moovar (1966) opposite Jambulingam, who was mostly known as a comedian. The director, K. Balachander, bet that pairing a serious hero with a comic actor would create a fresh dynamic — and it worked.
• In Shabash Thambi (1967), Jambulingam’s natural comic timing forced Ravichandran to loosen up his acting style. Ravichandran later admitted that Jambulingam’s improvisations on set made him drop his usual serious screen persona and try lighter, more spontaneous reactions.
• The success of their three films together directly led to Jambulingam being cast as the lead comedian in several major Tamil films of the late 1960s, including the hit Anbalippu (1969). Without this collaboration, his career might have stayed in supporting roles.
• During the shoot of Panakkara Pillai (1968), Ravichandran and Jambulingam shared a small room in a lodge in Chennai. They would rehearse their scenes together late into the night, often rewriting dialogues on the spot to make the comedy land better.
• Ravichandran once said in a 1972 interview: 'Jambu made me laugh even when the camera wasn’t rolling. He taught me that acting is not just about dialogue — it’s about the pause between them.'
