• For Motor Sundaram Pillai (1966), director A. P. Nagarajan wanted a different actress. Sowcar Janaki was not his first choice. She lobbied hard for the role and got it. That film became the start of their on-screen pair.
• In Kaviya Thalaivi (1970), Ravichandran played a brooding poet. Sowcar Janaki played his muse. She set the emotional pace in every scene — he followed her lead. He later said she made him act with his eyes, not just his dialogue.
• During the shoot of Nangu Suvargal (1971), Ravichandran and Sowcar Janaki developed a close off-screen friendship. They would rehearse scenes together at her house in Chennai. She often cooked him dinner after long days.
