• Manobala didn't just cast Vaibhav in Damaal Dumeel — he rewrote the entire lead character after meeting him. The original script had a different hero in mind, but Manobala saw Vaibhav's comic timing in a short film and scrapped the old draft.
• On the sets of Aranmanai 2, Vaibhav would deliberately flub his lines to make Manobala laugh mid-scene. Manobala, a veteran comedian himself, would then retaliate by adding extra slapstick bits on the spot. The outtakes became legendary among the crew.
• LKG (2019) was the film that finally gave Vaibhav a solo hit after years of ensemble roles. Manobala specifically tailored the political satire around Vaibhav's everyman persona — and it worked so well that two other producers immediately signed Vaibhav for similar comedy-lead roles.
• Manobala and Vaibhav had a standing ritual: before every first day of shoot, they'd share a single cup of filter coffee at the same roadside stall near the set. They did this for all three films, even when Aranmanai 2 shot in a different city — they found a stall.
• Vaibhav once said in an interview: 'Manobala sir doesn't direct actors — he pranks them into giving their best. I never knew I could be that funny until he made me mess up a scene on purpose.'
