• Vadivelu was a struggling mimicry artist when Jaishankar spotted him at a stage show. Jaishankar personally recommended him to director K. Bhagyaraj for Gokulam (1993). That film became Vadivelu's first proper comedy role in a mainstream movie.
• In Sindhu Nathi Poo (1994), Jaishankar played the straight-laced hero while Vadivelu improvised most of his dialogue on set. Jaishankar would deliberately pause his lines to give Vadivelu space to riff — a rhythm they perfected over four films.
• Jaishankar used to drive Vadivelu home after every night shoot in his own car. Vadivelu later said Jaishankar never let him take a bus, even when the shoot ended at 3 AM.
• Vadivelu once said in an interview: 'Jaishankar sir didn't treat me like a junior artist. He treated me like a co-star. That confidence made me a comedian.'
• The success of Chandralekha (1995) directly led to Vadivelu being cast as the solo comedian in his first big-budget film, which then launched his signature 'dialogue delivery' style that defined 2000s Tamil comedy.
• In Subash (1996), their last film together, Jaishankar insisted Vadivelu's comedy track be extended even though the director wanted to cut it. The result was a 15-minute stretch that remains the only watchable part of that 2.6-rated disaster.
