• Disco Shanti was already a known item dancer when Vadivelu was still a struggling comedian. Director R. Sundarrajan paired them in 'Ilaignar Ani' (1994) specifically to give Vadivelu a comic love interest — a rare move that let him play romance for laughs instead of just sidekick gags.
• In 'Athamaga Rathiname' (1994), Vadivelu’s character is a nervous groom and Disco Shanti’s character is the bold bride. She did most of the teasing and physical comedy, while he reacted — a role reversal that made their scenes feel fresh. She set the pace; he played the straight man.
• Their third and final film together, 'Muthu Kaalai' (1995), was a disaster — it got a 1/10 rating and effectively ended Disco Shanti’s career in Tamil cinema. Vadivelu survived and went on to become a superstar comedian, but she never recovered from that film’s failure.
• On the sets of 'Ilaignar Ani', Vadivelu used to make Disco Shanti laugh so hard during rehearsals that the director had to separate them for takes. She later said in an interview that he was the only co-star who could break her composure mid-scene.
• Disco Shanti once told a magazine: 'Vadivelu would whisper jokes between shots. I’d be crying with laughter, and then the director would yell “Action!” and I’d have to act serious. It was impossible.'
