• Vadivelu was a relatively new face when Soundarya specifically asked the director of Muthu Kaalai (1995) to cast him as her hero. She had seen his stage work and pushed for him, giving him his first major break in a lead role.
• In Kaathala Kaathala (1998), Soundarya’s deadpan reactions set the perfect rhythm for Vadivelu’s rapid-fire improvisations. She would deliberately pause a beat longer than the script required, letting his punchlines land harder — a trick they developed together on set.
• During the shoot of Thavasi (2001), Vadivelu would bring Soundarya homemade snacks from his wife’s kitchen every single day. She later said in an interview that those small gestures made her feel like family on a set where she was the only major female lead.
• Soundarya once told a magazine: 'Vadivelu doesn't just make you laugh — he makes you forget you're acting. With him, I was never performing comedy; I was just reacting to a friend being silly.'
• The success of Kaathala Kaathala (1998) directly inspired director K.S. Ravikumar to cast Vadivelu and Soundarya again in Thavasi (2001). He said their comic timing in the earlier film was the only reason he wrote a full-length comedy track for a serious family drama.
