• Madhoo was the bigger star when they first worked together in Diljale (1996). Gulshan Grover was cast as the villain opposite her. She later admitted she was initially intimidated by his intense screen presence.
• In Sher-E-Hindustan (1997), Gulshan Grover played a menacing antagonist while Madhoo played the love interest. Their scenes together had zero romantic tension — she was the damsel, he was the threat. That clear villain-heroine divide made their confrontations crackle.
