• Sudhakar once told a magazine: 'Vijayan was the only hero who treated me like an equal on set. He never acted like a star. We were just two friends making movies.'
• Vijayan was a rising hero when he personally requested director S. A. Chandrasekhar to cast Sudhakar as the villain in Niram Maaratha Pookkal (1979). Sudhakar had only done small roles before, and this film gave him his first major break as a negative lead.
• In Ponnu Oorukku Pudhusu (1979), Vijayan and Sudhakar played brothers — one good, one bad. Their real-life friendship made the betrayal scene hit harder. Sudhakar later said Vijayan would whisper jokes between takes to keep the tension real on camera.
• The two were roommates during the shoot of Chinna Chinna Veedu Katti (1980). They shared a small flat in Kodambakkam and would rehearse dialogues late into the night, often waking up the neighbours.
• Their third film together, Chinna Chinna Veedu Katti (1980), was the first Tamil film to feature a then-unknown child actor named Rajinikanth's future wife Latha — she played a small role as a neighbour. The film's success led to more family dramas in Tamil cinema that year.
