• Sarath Babu and Senthamarai first shared screen space in 'Azhagiya Kanne' (1982) because the director needed a pair of actors who could switch between comedy and emotional scenes without missing a beat. Senthamarai was already a stage veteran; Sarath Babu was the newcomer who had to match his timing.
• In 'Metti' (1982), Senthamarai deliberately slowed down his delivery in one key confrontation scene so Sarath Babu could land his punchline first. Sarath later said that gesture taught him how senior actors can make a scene work for both.
• During the shoot of 'Shankar Guru' (1987), the two would share a single cup of filter coffee between takes — a ritual they started on 'Azhagiya Kanne' and kept for every film together. Neither ever explained why, but the unit knew not to bring separate cups.
