• For 'Pudhiya Thoranangal' (1980), director S. P. Muthuraman cast Sarath Babu and Madhavi as a fresh pair — neither had headlined a Tamil film before. The gamble paid off: the film ran for over 100 days and launched both as a romantic duo.
• In 'Sattam' (1983), Madhavi played a fiery lawyer opposite Sarath Babu's cop. She later said in an interview that Sarath Babu deliberately held back his intensity in their courtroom scenes so her character could shine — a move that made their verbal duels crackle.
• Sarath Babu and Madhavi remained close friends long after their films ended. In the 2000s, when Madhavi returned to Chennai after years away, Sarath Babu was the first person she called — and he drove two hours to pick her up from the airport.
