• S. Ve. Shekher and S. S. Chandran were first paired together in 'Sahadevan Mahadevan' (1988) because director Gangai Amaran needed a comedy duo that could match the film's twin-hero premise. Shekher was already a known writer, but Chandran was a relative newcomer — Amaran bet on their contrasting energies to carry the comic subplot.
• In 'Thangamani Rengamani' (1989), Shekher played the straight man while Chandran did the physical comedy. Shekher later admitted in an interview that Chandran's timing was so sharp he had to rewrite his own lines on set to keep up — the scene where Chandran falls into a well was entirely improvised by him.
• During the shoot of 'Thangamana Purushan' (1989), Shekher and Chandran shared a room in a lodge near the set. Chandran would wake up at 4 AM to rehearse his lines aloud, which drove Shekher crazy — but Shekher never complained because he said Chandran's dedication made him work harder.
• S. Ve. Shekher once said about S. S. Chandran: 'He could make me laugh even when the director yelled cut. That's rare — most comedians are serious off-screen. Chandran was funny even when he wasn't trying.'
