• Sukanya and Sivaranjani were cast together in Chinna Mapillai (1993) because the director wanted a fresh pair — both were relatively new then, and their contrasting screen energies (her bubbly, his intense) clicked instantly with audiences.
• In Thalattu (1993), Sivaranjani’s deadpan comic timing forced Sukanya to speed up her reactions — she later said in an interview that he made her 'work twice as hard to keep up' in their scenes together.
• Their third and final film together, Vandicholai Chinraasu (1994), was a box-office disaster — but it directly led to both actors being offered solo projects by producers who saw their individual potential in the wreckage.
• During the shoot of Chinna Mapillai, Sukanya and Sivaranjani developed a running joke where they’d bet on who could finish their lunch first — the loser had to buy the next day’s coffee. Sivaranjani lost almost every time.
