• Their first film together, Swami Dada (1982), was a launchpad for both — Jackie was still a newcomer fresh off his debut, and Mithun was already a star post-Disco Dancer. The director, Dev Anand, paired them specifically to mix Jackie's raw energy with Mithun's mass appeal.
• In Shatranj (1993), Mithun played the intense, brooding hero while Jackie was the loud, street-smart sidekick. Jackie later admitted that Mithun deliberately slowed down his own dialogue delivery so Jackie's faster, more frantic style would pop on screen.
• Despite making 9 films together, they never once had a fight on set. Jackie once said in an interview that Mithun would quietly fix his costume before a scene without saying a word — and Jackie would return the favour by getting Mithun chai during breaks.
• Their 1998 film Yamraaj was the only movie where they played direct antagonists — Mithun as a righteous cop, Jackie as a ruthless gangster. That film's climax fight scene was later ripped off beat-for-beat in a 2005 Bhojpuri film, which became a cult hit in Bihar.
• "Mithun da and I never competed. He'd say, 'Tu apna kaam kar, main apna karunga' — and somehow we'd meet in the middle. That's why our films worked." — Jackie Shroff, in a 2017 interview with Filmfare.
• In Phool Aur Aag (1999), their last film together, they swapped their usual roles: Jackie played the quiet, suffering hero while Mithun went full comic-relief. The director said they did it just to keep things fresh — and it bombed because fans hated seeing them switch.
