• Raveena Tandon was the one who pushed for Sanjay Gupta to direct her in 'Aatish' (1994). She had seen his ad films and convinced producer Pahlaj Nihalani to give him a shot. That film became Gupta's directorial debut.
• On the sets of 'Jung' (1996), Sanjay Gupta realized Raveena was the only actress who could match his dark, gritty tone without overacting. He later said she 'understood the rhythm of a thriller' instinctively, so he wrote the female lead in 'Khauff' (2000) specifically with her in mind.
