Partnership facts

• Nassar personally recommended Jiiva for the lead in Aasai Aasaiyai (2003) after seeing him in a small role. The director was hesitant because Jiiva was very young, but Nassar insisted he had the maturity for it.
• In Dishyum (2006), Nassar played Jiiva's father. Jiiva later said Nassar would deliberately mess up his lines during rehearsals to keep him on his toes, forcing Jiiva to stay sharp and improvise. That tension made their scenes feel real.
• During the shoot of Mugamoodi (2012), Jiiva was struggling with the action choreography. Nassar stayed back after pack-up every day for a week to run through the fight sequences with him, even though Nassar had no fight scenes himself.
• Jiiva once said in an interview: 'Nassar sir doesn't act with you. He acts at you. You have to catch up or get left behind. That's why I worked harder in every film we did together.'
• The success of Dishyum (2006) — their only well-received film together — directly led to Jiiva being cast in the bigger-budget Katradhu Thamizh (2007). Nassar had recommended him to that director too, based on their work in Dishyum.
• In Endrendrum Punnagai (2013), Nassar played a strict father again, but this time he deliberately underplayed every scene opposite Jiiva's comic timing. He told the director he wanted Jiiva to get all the laughs, so he kept his own performance flat and straight.
