• Rakesh Roshan cast Shahrukh Khan in King Uncle (1993) after seeing his negative role in Darr. But the film flopped. Roshan still didn't give up on him — he cast SRK again in Karan Arjun (1995) as a reincarnated warrior. That one became a blockbuster.
• In Koyla (1997), Roshan deliberately pitted Shahrukh against a villain (Amrish Puri) who was physically bigger and louder. SRK had to match that energy with raw aggression — something he hadn't done before. Roshan pushed him to scream, cry, and fight in a way that felt almost feral. It was the angriest SRK had ever been on screen.
• During Karan Arjun, Shahrukh was already a star, but Rakesh Roshan treated him like a son. Roshan would personally make sure SRK's food was hot on set. Years later, when Roshan's son Hrithik debuted, SRK returned the favour — he promoted Kaho Naa... Pyaar Hai (2000) like it was his own film.
• Shahrukh once said about Rakesh Roshan: 'He is the only director who made me cry on screen and then laugh in the next scene. He knew my weaknesses better than I did.'
• Karan Arjun (1995) directly inspired the reincarnation plot of the 2003 Telugu film Simhadri. The scene where two strangers suddenly remember their past lives and start fighting together — that beat was lifted straight from Roshan and SRK's film.
