• Mundhanai Mudichu (1983) was the first film for both Urvashi and Kovai Sarala as adult leads. Director Visu cast them together specifically because he wanted two fresh faces who could handle comedy and emotion equally — and neither had proven that yet.
• In Mundhanai Mudichu, Urvashi played the straight-laced, serious sister while Kovai Sarala played the loud, comic foil. Sarala later said that Urvashi's timing forced her to raise her own energy — Urvashi's stillness made Sarala's chaos funnier.
• During the shoot of Mundhanai Mudichu, both were teenagers (Urvashi was 14, Sarala was around 16). They shared a room in the lodge near the set and would rehearse dialogues at night, often making each other laugh so hard the director would bang on the door.
• Mundhanai Mudichu was a massive hit and directly launched both as the go-to comic pair for Tamil cinema in the 80s. It inspired a wave of films pairing a 'serious girl' with a 'loud girl' — a template later used in movies like Samsaram Adhu Minsaram.
• Kovai Sarala once said in an interview: 'Urvachi was the only one who could make me forget my lines. I'd look at her face and just start laughing. Visu sir would yell at us both.'
• By the time they reunited for Viralukketha Veekkam (1999), both had shifted to character roles. But the old rhythm was still there — Sarala still did the loud comedy, Urvashi still played the exasperated straight woman. The film bombed, but their scenes together got the only laughs.
