• They first worked together in Bedardi (1993) because Ajay Devgan personally asked director S. A. Kader to cast Urmila after seeing her in Rangeela. He told the press he thought she was the only one who could match his intensity in a revenge drama.
• In Deewangee (2002), Urmila pushed Ajay to improvise the courtroom breakdown scene. She told him to stop acting and just react to her tears. He later said that take — where he slams the table and breaks down — was the one they used in the final cut.
• Their horror film Bhoot (2003) directly inspired Ram Gopal Varma to cast Urmila in his next ghost story, Vaastu Shastra (2004). He said their pairing in Bhoot proved that a female-led horror film could work without a male star — a rare thing in Bollywood at the time.
• During the shoot of Deewane (2000), Urmila and Ajay had a running bet: whoever flubbed a line first had to buy the entire crew chai. Ajay lost every single day. Urmila still has a photo of him holding 12 cups of chai on set.
• Ajay Devgan once said about Urmila: 'She is the only co-star who made me forget my lines. Not because I was distracted — because I was watching her perform.' He said this in a 2003 interview promoting Bhoot.
