• Pandian was a newcomer when Bharathiraja cast him opposite Vinu Chakravarthy in Mann Vasanai (1983). Vinu, already a known character actor, actually recommended Pandian to the director after seeing him in a stage play.
• In Muthal Vasantham (1986), Vinu Chakravarthy played the strict father to Pandian's rebellious son. The tension in their scenes came from real-life respect — Vinu would deliberately improvise dialogues to throw Pandian off, forcing him to react naturally.
• During the shoot of Thanga Kalasam (1988), Pandian and Vinu shared a room in a small lodge near the set. Vinu would wake up at 4 AM to practice his lines aloud, and Pandian later said that habit taught him discipline.
• Pandian once said in an interview: 'Vinu Chakravarthy was my on-screen father and off-screen guru. He never let me get comfortable — that's why our fights looked real.'
