• Manobala actually directed Janagaraj in 'Puthiya Vaarpugal' (1979) — their first film together. Janagaraj was a struggling mimicry artist then. Manobala gave him a small comic role that got noticed. That one break changed Janagaraj's career.
• In 'En Purushan Than Enakku Mattundhan' (1989), Manobala wrote the dialogues specifically around Janagaraj's timing. He'd pause mid-sentence and let Janagaraj finish the punchline. That rhythm — Manobala setting it up, Janagaraj knocking it down — became their signature.
• Their 1991 film 'Vetri Padigal' directly launched comedian Vadivelu into the big league. Manobala cast him as a sidekick to Janagaraj. Vadivelu's performance in that film got him his own solo comedy track offers. Without this pair, Vadivelu's rise might have taken years longer.
