• Rajamouli didn't want to cast Anushka in Vikramarkudu (2006). He thought she looked too young and soft for the role. She auditioned anyway, and he changed his mind after seeing her screen test.
• On the sets of Baahubali (2015), Rajamouli would give Anushka a single line of dialogue and ask her to improvise the rest. She once said he trusted her instincts more than any other director she worked with.
• The success of Baahubali 2 (2017) directly led to Anushka being cast in the Hindi film industry's first female-led superhero film, which was greenlit only after producers saw her box office pull as Devasena.
• After Baahubali 2 wrapped, Rajamouli and Anushka stopped talking for nearly two years. She later revealed it was because she felt he didn't acknowledge her contribution enough publicly. They patched up in 2019 over a phone call.
