• Kamal Haasan personally called Jayaram to offer him the role in Thenali (2000). Jayaram was a huge star in Malayalam but barely known in Tamil. Kamal bet on him anyway.
• In Panchathanthiram (2002), Kamal and Jayaram played off each other like a comedy double-act. Kamal set the frantic pace; Jayaram played the straight man who reacted. That rhythm made the film a cult favourite.
• Uttama Villain (2015) was the only time Kamal and Jayaram shared screen space as father and son. That emotional core directly inspired a later generation of Tamil comedians to try serious roles.
• On the sets of Thenali, Jayaram would crack up mid-scene because Kamal kept improvising new jokes. Kamal would then re-shoot the scene, keeping the improv, and Jayaram had to control his laughter for the final take.
