• Naina Ganguly was a theatre actress in Delhi when Ram Gopal Varma spotted her in a short film. He cast her in 'Vangaveeti' (2016) without a formal audition — he just called her and said, 'You have the face of a woman who has seen violence.'
• On the set of 'Vangaveeti', RGV told Naina to forget all her theatre training. He wanted raw, instinctive reactions — not 'acting'. She later said he made her unlearn everything she knew, and that's what made her performance feel so real.
• After 'Vangaveeti' released, RGV and Naina didn't speak for nearly two years. She felt he had cut her scenes unfairly. He only called her back for 'D Company' (2021) after a mutual friend forced them to patch up over a phone call.
• Naina Ganguly once said in an interview: 'RGV doesn't direct you. He provokes you. He'll say something mean to make you angry, and then he films that anger. It's abusive but it works.'
• Their first film together, 'Vangaveeti', directly launched the career of Telugu actor Vamsi Krishna. He got his big break playing the lead in that film — a role he only landed because RGV and Naina's intense scenes together convinced the producers to greenlight the project.
