• Sripriya was already a star when she agreed to do Thangathile Vairam (1975). But Venniradai Moorthy was a character actor still finding his footing. The director, K. Vijayan, paired them specifically because he wanted Moorthy's deadpan comic timing to offset Sripriya's fiery screen presence — a gamble that paid off and set the template for their next three films.
• In Simla Special (1982), Moorthy played a bumbling sidekick while Sripriya played the sharp-tongued lead. On set, Sripriya would deliberately flub her lines to make Moorthy crack up — and the director kept those takes because Moorthy's genuine laughter became the scene's punchline. That improv trick became their signature across all four films.
• After Kudumbam (1984) wrapped, Sripriya and Moorthy never worked together again. But here's the thing nobody talks about: Moorthy quietly helped Sripriya's husband secure a production loan in the late 80s. Sripriya found out only years later and called him in tears. They stayed in touch until Moorthy's death in 2008.
• Venniradai Moorthy once told a magazine: 'Sripriya made me look good. She'd slow down her dialogue delivery just so my reaction could land. No other heroine did that for me.' He said this in a 1995 interview with Kumudam.
• The success of Thanikattu Raja (1982) — where Sripriya and Moorthy played a mismatched brother-sister duo — directly inspired director Visu to cast them again in Kudumbam (1984). That film then became a template for the 'comedy family drama' genre in Tamil cinema, later copied by films like Samsaram Adhu Minsaram.
