• Santhanam and Kovai Sarala first shared screen space in Aranmanai (2014) because director Sundar C. deliberately paired them as the comic relief. He wanted two comedians who could trade insults without one overpowering the other — and their back-and-forth in the horror-comedy became the film's most replayed scenes.
• In Oodi Oodi Uzhaikanum (2017), Sarala would deliberately pause mid-dialogue to let Santhanam jump in with an ad-lib. She later told a behind-the-scenes crew that she 'knew he’d find a funnier punchline than the script,' so she left gaps for him to fill. That rhythm — her setting the trap, him springing it — became their trademark.
