• Bhagyaraj cast Ambika in 'Antha Ezhu Naatkal' (1981) after seeing her in a small role in another film. He bet that her raw energy would carry a whole movie — and it did. That film made both of them a hot pair overnight.
• On the sets of 'Anbulla Rajinikanth' (1984), Bhagyaraj would write dialogues in the morning and Ambika would deliver them with such natural timing that he started writing longer monologues just for her. She pushed him to trust his own writing more.
• Their third film 'Naan Sigappu Manithan' (1985) was a remake of a Malayalam hit, but Bhagyaraj rewrote the female lead entirely for Ambika. That version later inspired a Telugu remake — so their collaboration indirectly launched a whole new version of that story in another language.
• Ambika once said in an interview that Bhagyaraj would call her at 5 AM to discuss a scene he'd just thought of. She never complained — she said it was the only time he wasn't distracted by other actors on set.
