Partnership facts

• For Mozhi (2007), director Radha Mohan originally wanted a different actress for the deaf-mute role. Jyothika fought for it, and Bhaskar — already cast as her on-screen father — quietly backed her in meetings. That film became her comeback after marriage.
• In 36 Vayathinile (2015), Bhaskar played her husband — but on set, he deliberately underplayed every scene opposite her. He told her: 'You carry the film. I'm just here to make you look good.' She later said that trust let her cry without holding back.
• Kaatrin Mozhi (2018) — a remake of the Hindi film Tumhari Sulu — was greenlit only because Jyothika insisted Bhaskar play her husband again. The producer later admitted the pairing sold the film to distributors. It became a hit.
• Between films, Bhaskar and Jyothika never hung out socially. But every time a new script came to either of them, they'd call each other first to ask: 'Is the other one in?' If one said no, the other would drop out too. That's how they picked all three projects.
• Jyothika once said about Bhaskar: 'He doesn't act with you. He listens to you. That's rare. In Mozhi, I didn't speak a word — but he heard everything I didn't say.'
