• Naseeruddin Shah was not the first choice for Tridev. Rajiv Rai originally wanted a younger, more commercial hero. Shah convinced Rai by promising to bring a raw, street-smart energy to the role — and Rai rewrote the character to fit him.
• On the sets of Vishwatma, Shah would deliberately break Rai's tightly choreographed action sequences by adding sudden pauses or deadpan reactions. Rai later admitted this forced him to shoot more close-ups, which made the film's pacing sharper.
• The success of Mohra's 'Tu Cheez Badi Hai' sequence — where Shah's character delivers a deadpan one-liner before the song — directly inspired the 'item number with a comic hero' trend in 90s Bollywood. Films like Chura Liyaa Hai Tumne and Bade Miyan Chote Miyan copied the formula.
• During the making of Tridev, Shah and Rai had a standing bet: every time Shah improvised a line that made the crew laugh, Rai had to buy him a bottle of Old Monk. By the end of the shoot, Shah had collected 14 bottles.
• Rajiv Rai once said in an interview: 'Naseer was the only actor who could make my masala films feel intelligent. He'd look at a ridiculous dialogue and say, "Let me say it like I'm bored of life" — and suddenly it became art.'
