• Madhuri Dixit was already a star when Saajan (1991) was being cast. Lawrence D'Souza was a relatively new director. He didn't just cast her — he built the entire film around her pairing with Salman Khan, betting his career on their chemistry.
• On the sets of Dil Tera Aashiq (1993), Madhuri reportedly helped Lawrence D'Souza with blocking and shot composition. She had more film experience than him at that point, and he let her contribute to staging scenes — a rare dynamic for a male director and female star in the 90s.
• After Aarzoo (1999) flopped, Lawrence D'Souza and Madhuri never worked together again. But in a 2017 interview, D'Souza said she was the only actress who would still take his calls years later — and that she once sent him a handwritten note after his mother passed away.
