• Salman Khan was not the first choice for Saajan. The role of the rich, brooding poet was originally offered to Aamir Khan, who passed. Salman stepped in, and the film became his first major pairing with Madhuri — launching one of the 90s' most iconic on-screen couples.
• In Hum Aapke Hain Koun..!, Madhuri and Salman barely had any romantic scenes — no kiss, no hug, not even a single hand-hold until the climax. Yet their chemistry worked because Madhuri’s playful teasing made Salman’s shy, stammering character believable. She set the rhythm; he followed.
• Hum Aapke Hain Koun..! single-handedly revived the family drama genre in Bollywood. Before it, 90s cinema was dominated by action and violence. After its 1994 release, every producer wanted a big fat wedding film with a large cast — and Madhuri-Salman became the template for the perfect on-screen couple.
• During the shoot of Hum Aapke Hain Koun..!, Madhuri and Salman would often prank each other between takes. Salman once hid her chappals before a dance sequence, and she retaliated by hiding his bike keys. Director Sooraj Barjatya had to call a five-minute truce just to get the shot.
• Madhuri once said about Salman: 'He is the most spontaneous actor I have worked with. On the sets of Saajan, he would just say his lines in a way that made me laugh, and that laughter stayed in the shot. He made acting feel like playing.'
• In Dil Tera Aashiq (1993), Madhuri and Salman had to shoot a scene where she slaps him repeatedly. Salman insisted she actually slap him — no fake hits. After the 12th take, his cheek was red, but Madhuri later said that real sting made her performance more convincing. He took the pain to keep her in the moment.
