Partnership facts

• Soori was a struggling comedian when Chaams recommended him for Manam Kothi Paravai (2012). Chaams had already been cast, and he told the director, 'If you want a real laugh, take this guy too.' That one push got Soori his first proper break in a mainstream film.
• In Bramman (2014), Chaams and Soori built their comedy scenes by trading insults in real time. They'd rehearse once, then throw out the script and just roast each other on set. The director kept the camera rolling because their back-and-forth was sharper than anything written.
• During the shoot of Si3 (2017), Soori and Chaams shared a room in a budget lodge near the set. Every night, they'd watch old Goundamani-Senthil clips on a laptop and try to copy their timing the next morning. They called it 'comedy school'.
• Chaams once said in an interview: 'Soori is the only actor who can make me laugh even when the director is yelling at us. We'd mess up a take on purpose just to crack each other up.'
• Their double-act in Saravanan Irukka Bayamaen (2017) was so flat that both of them later admitted it killed their momentum as a pair. After that film, no director cast them together again. They haven't shared screen space since 2017.
