• Chunky Pandey and Neelam were paired together for the first time in 'Kasak' (1992) because the producer wanted a fresh-looking couple to sell a dark story about a woman forced into prostitution. Neither was a big star then — they were both trying to climb out of supporting roles.
• In 'Khule-Aam' (1992), Neelam played a bold, street-smart woman while Chunky played a naive lover. The director later said Chunky deliberately held back his comic energy to let Neelam's aggression drive every scene — a rare selfless move from a male lead in early 90s Bollywood.
• During the shoot of 'Kasak', Chunky and Neelam would rehearse their intimate scenes alone in a locked room because both were shy about performing them in front of the crew. The director had to bribe them with samosas to come out and shoot.
• Their third and final film together, 'Kasam' (2001), was originally offered to a bigger star pair. When that fell through, Chunky recommended Neelam for the female lead — it was the only time he actively chose to work with her again after a 9-year gap.
• Neelam once said in an interview: 'Chunky was the only co-star who would actually listen to my suggestions about the script. He never acted like he knew better just because he was the hero.'
