• Pran was 64 when they shot 'Paap Ki Duniya' (1988). Sunny was 31. The age gap was so wide that Pran played his father in the film — but off-screen, Pran reportedly told Sunny, 'You remind me of my own son in the 60s.' That personal note is what broke the ice between them.
• In 'Sohni Mahiwal' (1984), Pran played the villain who drowns Sohni. Sunny played the hero who tries to save her. The climax fight was shot in one take because Pran insisted on doing his own fall into a water tank — and Sunny, mid-scene, grabbed his collar to stop him from hitting the edge. That instinctive save became the shot they kept in the final cut.
• The only reason 'Nigahen: Nagina Part II' (1989) exists is because Sunny and Pran's pairing in 'Paap Ki Duniya' (1988) did decent business in single-screen theatres in Uttar Pradesh. The producer greenlit the sequel specifically to cash in on their father-son dynamic — a trend that later inspired the 'Dharam-Veer' style pairings of the 90s.
• Pran never called Sunny by his screen name. On the sets of all three films, he only addressed him as 'Dharmendra ka beta' — even when the cameras weren't rolling. Sunny later said in a 2017 interview that it made him feel like he was acting with his own father, not a co-star.
