• T. Rajendar cast Gouthami in 'Samsara Sangeetham' (1989) after seeing her in a Telugu film. He later said he picked her because she had 'innocence in her eyes' — a quality he wanted for the village-belle role.
• In 'En Thangai' (1989), Rajendar wrote the dialogues in a rapid-fire, rhyming style. Gouthami had to deliver her lines at his exact rhythm — she later admitted she rehearsed each scene 20 times to match his pace.
