• Rama Narayanan was a struggling director when he cast Ambika in Chinnanj Chirusugal (1982). She was already a star. He later said she took a risk on him because she liked the script. That film put both of them on the map.
• In Peyveedu (1984), Ambika played a ghost. Rama Narayanan made her do the entire role without blinking. She held her eyes open for minutes at a time. That single choice made the horror scenes unforgettable.
