Partnership facts

• Sentrayan and Mayilsamy first shared screen space in Thiruttu Rail (2015) because the director needed a quick comic relief pair. Neither had worked together before, but they clicked so well on the first day of shoot that the director added extra scenes for them on the spot.
• In Paisa (2016), Mayilsamy would deliberately flub his lines to make Sentrayan break character. Sentrayan then started improvising counter-flubs, turning every take into a battle of who could make the other laugh first. The director kept the best takes — that's why their scenes feel so loose and natural.
• During the shoot of Tamil Kudimagan (2023), Sentrayan and Mayilsamy shared the same van for all outdoor locations. They'd rehearse their scenes in the morning and then spend evenings teaching each other folk songs from their respective villages. Neither had done that with any other co-star.
• Mayilsamy once said in a 2023 interview: 'Sentrayan is the only actor who can make me forget my lines because I'm too busy watching him act. He doesn't perform — he just becomes the character, and I get lost in it.'
• Their comic timing in Paisa (2016) directly inspired a younger generation of Tamil comedy writers. The film's 'bus stop argument' scene — where they argue without ever raising their voices — became a template for deadpan comedy in later indie Tamil films like Joker (2016) and Mandram (2021).
