• Govinda was a struggling newcomer when Shashi Kapoor handpicked him for Ilzaam (1986). Shashi saw something in the kid and insisted he play the lead opposite him, giving Govinda his first real break in a multi-starrer.
• On the sets of Sindoor (1987), Shashi Kapoor would quietly adjust Govinda's comic timing. Govinda later said Shashi taught him how to land a punchline without overacting — a lesson he carried into his 90s hits.
• Shashi Kapoor and Govinda never hung out outside work. Their relationship was strictly professional — Shashi was the veteran producer-actor, Govinda the nervous newcomer. No dinners, no phone calls. Just respect on set.
• Raeeszada (1990) was the last film Shashi Kapoor produced before his production company shut down. It bombed so hard that it effectively ended Shashi's run as a leading man — and Govinda never worked with him again.
