• Pran was 63 when he played Padmini Kolhapure's husband in Souten (1983). She was 17. The age gap was so controversial that the censor board initially objected. The director, Saawan Kumar Tak, had to personally argue that the story needed it.
• In Bewafai (1985), Pran's character is a stern father who disowns his son. Padmini plays the daughter-in-law caught in the middle. Pran deliberately stayed in character between takes — cold and distant — to keep Padmini emotionally raw for their confrontation scenes. She later said it was the most intimidating she ever felt on set.
• Despite the huge age gap, Pran treated Padmini like a granddaughter. On the sets of Daata (1989), he would bring her homemade sweets from his kitchen. She called him 'Pran Dadaji' even after the film wrapped.
• Padmini Kolhapure once said: 'Pran sahab never made me feel like I was acting with a legend. He would whisper the next line in my ear if I forgot it. He wanted me to look good, not himself.'
• Souten (1983) was a massive hit and directly inspired the 1994 film 'Milan' with Jackie Shroff and Manisha Koirala — same basic plot of a young wife vs an older husband's first wife. That film's poster even copied Souten's visual style.
