Partnership facts

• On the set of Muthu Kaalai (1995), Gokula Krishnan would write dialogue in the morning and hand it to Senthil, who would then rewrite his own lines in spoken Tamil. Krishnan let him do it because Senthil knew exactly where the audience would laugh.
• Poovarasan (1996) was the only film where Senthil played a full-length supporting role without a single comedy scene. That performance directly inspired director K. S. Ravikumar to cast Senthil in a similar serious role in Nattamai (1994) — a film that revived Senthil's career.
• After Archanai Pookal flopped, Gokula Krishnan didn't call Senthil for 13 years. When he finally did for Muthu Kaalai, Senthil picked up the phone and said, 'I knew you'd call when the script was right.' They never discussed the gap.
• Senthil was already a popular comedian when Gokula Krishnan cast him in Archanai Pookal (1982). But Krishnan didn't write a typical comedy track — he gave Senthil a dramatic role. Senthil later said that trust made him say yes instantly.
